A WeCap: Whole 30, Yoga and Blossoms

I’ve decided Sundays are going to be my week’s recap…now known as a WeCap. Enjoy! Normally I try to keep some type of theme in these posts…but so much has happened over the past week that I can’t even imagine thinking of weaving all of these things in smoothly. Soooo, I’m not going to try because I… …don’t give a ship. OK. So first thing on the docket: today marks the end of week 1 in our attempt at Whole 30… and WHOLLY hell (definitely using that has the headline in the future), it is not for the faint of heart. It isn’t even the fact that I can’t eat bread. It isn’t the fact that I can’t eat cheese. What makes Whole 30 so difficult is the fact that I have to cook each meal to stay on plan. On Whole 30, you have to avoid certain foods, one of them being sugar (besides sugar in fruits/veggies)….and I don’t know if you know…but sugar is in EVERYTHING. On a usual week, I am able to go …

I love lamp (and yoga, and caramallows)

Happy almost Valentines Day! Yes I know. It’s not a real  holiday but I’ve always been OK with February 14th; there is always an excess of chocolate floating around, people just seem to be very giddy (or very cynical), flowers are abundant (even though it is 20 degree outside) and it is nice to see an outpour of love (if even in the form of a cheap stuffed animal). I actually really enjoy seeing people loving so much! That said, I’m not especially into celebrating it. In fact, a few years ago I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out (unplanned) on Valentines Day, leaving poor Steven to eat Chick-Fil-A by himself in a mall food court. Then last year,  we went to Chick-Fil-A (voluntarily) with friends to celebrate. It was super fun! (seriously, no sarcasm here…I’m serious!) This year, we planned on going to Chick-Fil-A (recognizing a theme here?) but V-day falls on a Sunday, so that plan is ruined. I guess we need to choose another fast food venue! So to appease both my Valentines lovers …

I’m Hooked On-The-Line

One of the reasons I started this blog was to give myself a new and productive hobby. This year, I found myself watching a lot of T.V after work and just wanted to do something….You know what I do now? I’m on-the-line a lot. This blog has got me all sorts of internet addicted. What kinds of things do I look at, you ask? Well, I look up a lot of DIY projects (especially since it is the holiday time), A LOT of recipes, I read fitness and lifestyle blogs and I watch youtube vlogs, many of which do not pertain to me at all, I just like how well done they are (like did I really need to watch an 11 minute video on how to dye my hair pink?) Do you know how much stuff is out there in internet-land?? Ya, me either! Its HUGE. But just like anything else, I do have my go-to spots for all of my life needs, so check out my favorite internet spaces. For Recipes: This is a big one I get asked about …

An almond a leg

What a weekend! Saturday was Laura’s Bridal shower. For her special day (not the special day, but certainly a special day) we decided to create a carnival wonderland to pay homage to the night Laura and Younes got engaged. I was lucky enough to witness that night and watch one of my best friends say “yes” the love of her life (and to her future) at the Virginia Beach carnival over memorial day weekend. Carnival, engagement, beach, and soft serve ice cream…that was a freakin’ great weekend. After weeks of planning and lots of help from the bridesmaids and our mothers (thanks mom!) I pretty much think we nailed it! Cotton candy, popcorn machine (thanks Sarah!), candy bar (thanks Devon!), RIDICULOUS baked goods (holy butt, Emily…I will never get over how amazing they were!) photo booth….this carnival had it all! A HUGE shoutout to Caroline, the matron of honor, who put hours of planning, shopping and love into this party! Love you slime! Congrats to two of my favs! Sunday was my recovery day; a day to take …

Comforting Stew and Jillian Michaels

A rainy day 2 is a real bummer for trying to get motivated to do…anything. The only good thing rain is for is staying inside and making a warm tasty stew! So what was on the docket? Spanish lentil stew. I’ll admit, this isn’t a first “tri” for me. It is actually one of Steven’s go to recipes that I always look forward to because 1. it is tasty! and 2. I don’t have to make it. In conclusion…you can thank Steven for this tasty recipe! It is super easy and will give you leftovers for days. Ingredients: 1 small onion 1 medium potato Chorizo (3-4 links) 1.5 cups of green lentils 3-4 cups of water (depending on how much veg you use) Salt/Pepper to tast Optional: Carrots (2) Celery (2) First, get your lentils soaking in water. They say an hour is ideal, but I did 20 minutes because I’m impatient and it worked out fine. Next, you’ll want to prep your veg. The original recipe only called for onions and potatoes, but Steven always throws in some …

BREAKFAST for DAYS

My mornings can be absolutely insane…I wake up…take a shower…. Ok let’s be serious, my mornings are not insane but I do like to sleep in as long as humanly possible. This makes getting a good breakfast in near to impossible (and I’m sure you people with real responsibilities…like puppies…or children can appreciate a time saving recipe!) This is super easy and will give me a quick breakfast all week long. I customized mine to not have cheese (I’m on a cleanse where dairy is frowned upon… I know, ya gouda brie kidding me) but made a few for Steven with the cheesy gold. Make sure to do a brush of olive oil so nothing will stick. Then, layer the bottom with whatever veggie goodness you want: I went with spinach, some onions i quickly softened in a tiny bit of EVOO and some jimmy dean turkey sausage (the best vegetable of all). Scramble up some eggs and pour right on top. My muffin tins were about 1.25 eggs per tin but it’ll just depend on how much stuff you …
