Bum foot, Bangs and a Butt Load of Cookies

Yikes! My first time in about 6 months that I’ve gone longer than 6 days without posting. I try pretty hard to stick to a blogging schedule (for my own good…and for you dedicated readers out there…hi mom!) but sometimes, I just can’t.

But that is life…

plan, be surprised, move forward…repeat.

Which takes me to my first update for this week…
Turns out that little ache in my pesky foot is a stress fracture. Surprise! It was really crappy piece of news to be delivered especially before 2 races I was REALLY looking forward to. The prognosis is a minor stress fracture. I also learned that my navicular bone is abnormally large which is ironic because my foot is so tiny.

But you do know what they say about large navicular bones right? 😉

Yeah, me either.

I knew the mechanics of my body were just wrong! These tiny feet weren’t meant to hold my frame!

So I’ve been booted for a few weeks but hopefully with some rest, the boot, and some new orthodics to try out, I should be patched up soon.

On a side note, I need to take some time to give my friend Eric a shout out…

Dear Eric,
I’m sorry I begged you to run a 10K with me and didn’t run it with you. And I’m sorry you also decided to run the 5K before that 10K. And I’m sorry you had to take this race photo alone…but you look pretty cool here regardless.

After stress/sad eating a lot of cookies (damn you, girl scouts), a lot of Swedish cookies (damn you, elderly neighbors whose driveway I shoveled during the storm), and some more cookies (damn you….grocery store) I decided it was time to hop off the self-loathing wagon and get back to it.

But first, an impulsive haircut (because that is the first step toward recovery, right?)

Long story short, I had wanted bangs forever since my forehead is what my friends call a “5-6 head” but had a few fears:

  1. I didn’t want to look like I was 6.
  2. I didn’t want to look like a little K pop groupie
  3. I didn’t want to look like I was 6.

After a long consultation with my stylist, I learned a few things.

  1. I wasn’t going to look “cool” like I wanted… I was going to look “cute.”
  2. I’d have to train my bangs because apparently, my bangs, are delinquent.

And so I went for it! Here are the results.

We’ll see how long I can keep up with them (I can already tell summer + my over-heating body are going to be an issue) but I’m liking the change.

Also, I’m not going to lie…I’ve been re-watching New Girl with Steven and I just love Jessica Day more and more every episode, so part of the inspiration might have been from her. Ok, it was definitely from her.

The Rock N Roll DC half marathon is tomorrow…which I was supposed to run in but I’ve decided to sit it out since running in a boot would take an iron will and like 6 hours. The good news is, I am volunteering with the DC Tri Club which means I’ll still get to be a part of it:-) Come visit if you are running!

Sunday is my first group ride with NTP so that should be fun as well. Doc said low impact was OK for now sooooo I’m self-diagnosing that cycling is ok.

Till then, lots of yoga and abs.

Speaking of yoga, the other big announcement is that is that I’m hosting my first blogging event at Core Power Yoga in Clarendon! If you are interested in attending, please email The details are below! Its FREEEEEE. Tell yo friends!

    • Thank you! I am loving it but it is definitely not easy to maintain! I think once I get more of the length back, I’ll be totally satisfied. Thanks for visiting, going to yours now:-)
